Watch Me Grow

Preparing for Liftoff

Per likes to stand in the driver's seat. He also thinks it is fun to play with the volume dial on the radio. He is doing that in the second picture, then showing his surprise at how loud it got in the third picture (good surprised face, eh?), and then he's back at it again in the fourth picture. Per likes being in the car!

Couch Time

Per and Daddy playing on the couch. Please note Zak's lovely and cozy leopard-print Snuggie in the corner. He got that for Christmas from his mom.

Picture 1: It's all fun and games.
Picture 2: Uh, I want some alone-time, Dad.
Picture 3: This face is accompanied by a satisifed, rather drawn-out, "Ha!" This is the noise Per makes when he gets what he wants.

Did I Mention Dishes?

Did I mention that Per also really loves to "do" dishes with us? He's great at helping put them away when they're clean, but hasn't really figured out the concept of dirty dishes needing to stay in the dishwasher until it gets run. I am glad he likes to help with chores, since it makes it easier for me to get them done during the day when we are home together!

Lil' Ralphie

We finally got a Per a winter coat. We have just been layering sweaters and stuff up til now -- I mean, it's not like he spends copious amounts of time out of doors currently. Too stinkin' cold for that. Anyway, there was a sale and we bought a 2T since that's most likely the size he'll be in next winter. He looks a little like Ralphie, but I'm okay with that. And you can see from the first picture that he likes his coat.

Catching Up

I have a lot of catching up to do. I sort of took a hiatus from blogging in August and am just now getting back to it. I downloaded the pictures from my cameras the other day and there were over 600. So. I find that a little daunting... therefore, I think I am just going to start with the very recent past and try to be better about keeping up in the future.

There are a few moments from the past five months that do deserve a mention and a photo, so I'll start with those:

Per turned one! He had a fun birthday.

We had a visit with his cousin Hazel in late August. I think they look a lot a like with their blonde hair and blue eyes.

Per started to mimic us quite a bit in September. One day I was tired when he was eating lunch, so I laid my head down on the table. He mirrored me. That night, I had Zak try it with him and this is the result:

Per loves to climb into the drawer under the oven. There are a few battered pots and pans and a spoon that are kept in there for him to play with. He likes to pull out a pan and the spoon and "cook" things for me. He also really loves to watch me cook and demands to be picked up so that he can see what is going on above him on the counter.

For Halloween, Per was the tiger from Ten Apples Up On Top. Surprisingly, he loved wearing his costume.

Per has always loved to be read to. In October, he started to climb into the chair in his room by himself and read. He also loves reading with Daddy.

Regrettably, this is something new Daddy has taught him:

Per thinks it is hilarious. Mommy is not amused. Especially not when Per does this in the checkout line at the grocery store.

This is something I like to think that I taught him by example. Per loves to sweep and vacuum.

Some recent snuggle-time with Mommy and Daddy:

And that pretty much catches us up for now!
